Sociedade Portuguesa de Gastrenterologia	A SPG tem por objecto: a) Promover o desenvolvimento da Gastrenterologia ao serviço da saúde da população portuguesa; b) Estimular a investigação no domínio da Gastrenterologia; c) Difundir ideias, promover a actualização de conhecimentos e trabalhos de Gastrenterologia; d) Promover contactos e o intercâmbio nacional e internacional entre diversos profissionais ligados à especialidade; e) Desenvolver actividades educacionais no domínio da Gastrenterologia; f) Exercer actividades de consultadoria no campo da Gastrenterologia.
GE - Jornal Português de Gastrenterologia	O GE-Jornal Português de Gastrenterologia é o órgão oficial da Sociedade Portuguesa de Gastrenterologia, Sociedade Portuguesa de Endoscopia Digestiva e Associação Portuguesa para o Estudo do Fígado. Publica artigos originais sobre todos os temas da Gastrenterologia, Endoscopia Digestiva e Hepatologia, ou com eles relacionados. São também publicados artigos de revisão, casos clínicos, imagens, cartas ao editor e outros que se incluam na estrutura editorial da revista (recomendações, artigos sobre a prática clínica gastrenterológica, notícias de reuniões de sociedades científicas, por ex).
European Pancreatic Club	The EPC is a non-profit making organisation with the following aims: (A) To promote communication between basic and clinical scientists in Europe interested in the pancreas and its disorders. (B) To promote and organise an annual scientific meeting devoted to all aspects of the pancreas. (C) To promote scientific, epidemiological and clinical research into pancreatic function and into the prevention, diagnosis and therapy of pancreatic diseases. Preference will be given to co-operative projects. (D) To establish scholarships and promote postgraduate education and training. (E) To support other meetings concerning the pancreas organised by members of the EPC. (F) To disseminate information about EPC activities, and publish such educational matter as the EPC council may consider desirable.

Pancreatology	''Pancreatology" is the official journal of the International Association of Pancreatology (IAP), the European Pancreatic Club (EPC) as well as a number of other national societies and study groups. Dedicated to the understanding and treatment of pancreatic disease, this multidisciplinary periodical is concerned with the endocrine and exocrine pancreas in health and disease, including endocrine-exocrine interactions.
International Associaton of Pancreatology	The IAP is a unique international organization devoted to basic and clinical understanding of pancreatic functions and diseases. It is an assembly of basic scientists and clinical investigators from 32 countries (status 2008) dedicated to explore pancreatic biology in order to improve treatment outcomes in a variety of pancreatic disorders.
Database of genetic variants in patients with chronic pancreatitis	This regularly updated database has been established in spring 2001. It contains all genetic variants of the human cationic trypsinogen (PRSS1) and serin protease inhibitor, Kazal type 1 (SPINK1) genes, which have been published in peer reviewed articles.

Ordem dos Médicos	A Ordem dos Médicos tem âmbito nacional, com a sua sede em Lisboa. Está organizada em três secções regionais - Norte, Centro e Sul, incluindo as Regiões Autónomas - com sede, respectivamente, no Porto, Coimbra e Lisboa.
Núcleo de Gastrenterologia dos Hospitais Distritais	Em Junho de 1984 surgiu a ideia de criar uma Associação que defendesse a digna implantação da especialidade de Gastrenterologia fora dos grandes Centros. O principal mentor dessa ideia foi o Dr. Vasco Trancoso, tendo sido constituida por 4 elementos a primeira Comissão 'Ad hoc' para a criação do Núcleo de Gastrenterologia dos Hospitais Distritais (NGHD). Esta Comissão exerceu funções até à primeira Assembleia Geral eleitoral de 1986 e dela faziam parte: Vasco Trancoso, Castelo Branco da Silveira, Duarte Costa e Carlos Pinho.
